PASTOR TERRELL D. HOLMES
Pastor Terrell Holmes is a native of Laurel, Delaware. He shares two children, Tiana and Terrell, II, with his wife of 18 years, Candace. Pastor Holmes joined the Jesus is Lord Church of Deliverance in 1991 as an adolescent and has maintained deep roots in the ministry’s foundation. Pastor Holmes was raised under the spiritual leadership of Apostle Bonnie Bigelow and became active in the ministry at a young age. Notably, Pastor Holmes attended and was the very first graduate of the church’s Christian school, Jesus is Lord Christian Academy, in 1998. Upon graduation, Pastor Holmes attended Voorhees College and earned a Bachelor of Science, summa cum laude. Pastor Holmes continued his studies at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, in Troy, NY, where he earned a Master of Science in Computer Science in 2004. Pastor Holmes’ academic career culminated in 2017 with a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership earned from Delaware State University.
Pastor Holmes began his professional career at Delaware State University, where he has been employed since 2005. He currently holds the title of Associate Vice President for Strategic Initiatives at DSU’s Downtown Campus. At DSU, Pastor Holmes has accomplished two of his life’s goals: serving students at a Historically Black College and University and assisting students from his hometown to attain higher education.
Throughout his academic and professional career, Pastor Holmes remained a faithful servant at Jesus is Lord. In 2005, Pastor Holmes was ordained as a Teacher. In 2008, he was elevated to the office of Minister and then to the office of Elder in 2012. After much preparation, and in consultation with the Holy Spirit, Apostle Bigelow anointed Pastor Holmes to be the new pastor of Jesus is Lord and he was installed on September 25, 2021.
Dr. Holmes has the heart of a servant. He loves God and has a passion for assisting others in fulfilling their purpose in God. He is a firm believer in being available for the work of ministry, where we each have a special role, fitly joined together, as the body of Christ.
LADY CANDACE HOLMES
Lady Candace serves alongside her husband, Pastor Terrell, as executive leadership at JILCOD, where she is an ordained minister. While Lady Candace considers her most cherished roles to be wife and mother, she functions in multiple capacities. At JILCOD, Lady Candace serves on the Praise & Worship team and assists with administration and media productions. Together, Pastor Terrell and Lady Candace offer pre- and post-marriage counseling in furtherance of their mission to strengthen and fortify family units. In her community, Lady Candace is actively engaged, serving on the executive boards for the Kent County Bar Association, Academy of Dover Charter School, Delaware Lawyer Magazine, Delaware State Bar Association Professional Guidance Committee, and the Terry-Carey American Inn of Court. She has also served as a mentor for the Give Something Back Scholarship Foundation and the Multi-Cultural Judges/Lawyers mentorship program for DE bar exam applicants.
Lady Candace graduated from the University of Delaware in 2004, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice. In 2016, God blessed her to achieve a childhood dream and earn her Juris Doctor, summa cum laude, from UDC-David A. Clarke School of Law. She currently works for a private firm as a family law attorney. Lady Candace believes she has been called to help others navigate through a time in which their family is most fragile. She enjoys serving and encouraging others to pursue their passion and purpose in life and in Christ. God has proven to her that, through Him, ALL things are possible!
